Coshocton Youth Chorale spring finale concert announced
Twenty area high school students in the Coshocton Youth Chorale will perform their spring finale concert on Thursday, May 25 at 7 p.m. at the Roscoe United Methodist Church. The Coshocton Youth Chorale is sponsored by the Coshocton Community Choir, and is directed by Charles R. Snyder. The group is comprised of singers from local and surrounding county high schools. Graduating seniors include Olivia Crouso, Grace Cullison, Paige Nicely, and Sheldon Stotts.
“The Roscoe concert is a tradition that started when the youth chorale began in 2003,” Snyder said. “The theme for this concert is United We Sing. This year students in the youth chorale represent not only the three Coshocton County high schools and the Coshocton Career Center, but also Indian Valley Schools and there is an exchange student from Belgium. The theme was chosen from watching the singers create friendships with one another, along with their interactions before, during, and after rehearsals.”
Some of the musical highlights of this concert include: “Seize the Day” from the musical Newsies; “Elijah Rock” (a youth chorale tradition) by Jester Hairston; the sea shanty “Early in the Morning”; and a combination of two American folk songs in “Cross the Wide Missouri.”
There is no charge to attend the Coshocton Youth Chorale Spring Finale Concert on May 25 at 7 p.m., but an offering will be received to help offset concert expenses.
