Carol Marie Merth (Olson)
Carol Marie Merth (Olson), age 85, formerly of Coshocton, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in Dubuque, Iowa. Carol was born on December 12, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Ernest Johan and Florence (Marchant) Olson.
Carol attended Calumet High School in Chicago and Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. Carol was a long time legal secretary starting her career in the Chicago area and then continuing in the Coshocton and Zanesville areas until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Calumet Park, IL.
Always seeming to be the stern one in a family of pranksters, Carol always was the glue that held the family together and together she and Joseph pushed their kids in a positive way to do well in school as well as help others in life.
Carol is survived by her daughter Laura Finlay of Bieber, CA, son Joseph Merth III of Dubuque, IA and son John (Kelly) of North Olmsted, OH. Grandchildren, James Finlay, Jr. of San Francisco, CA, Tyler Merth of Orlando, FL, Julie and Erica Merth of North Olmsted, OH. Great granddaughter Noa Finlay of San Francisco.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Merth Jr., Maternal grandparents, Charles and Laura Marchant, Paternal grandparents Fred and Carolina Olson and Aunt Elsie Marchant.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw, Ohio. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
