Senior Mother Arabella Martha Wright

Senior Mother Arabella Martha Wright was born on October 14, 1955, in Coshocton, Ohio. She was called from labor to reward on September 18, 2023. She was the third of ten children born to the late Senior Bishop Isaiah I. Dew and Advanced Senior Mother Mildred Mable Wright. She graduated in 1974 from River View HS in Coshocton, OH. She received her undergraduate degree from Thornton Township College. After graduating she moved to Sacramento, California where she attended services as a member of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob. She then moved to Washington, DC and had been a faithful member of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob. In 1998 she earned a Master of Science Degree in Information Technology from the University of Maryland College Park, MD.

Senior Mtr. Arabella was an active member of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc. She was made a Junior Minister in 1970 and ordained in 1973. She was consecrated to the Motherhood on August 17, 2003, and elevated to Senior Mother in 2010. She graduated from Bible School. She loved the Lord and sought to live a holy life by example. She was fully engaged in the service of others and often assisted senior saints and others by providing rides to church and other events. Throughout her life she held numerous positions within the church, including Bible Teacher/Supervisor, President of the Daughters of God, and as Secretary or Treasurer for various church auxiliaries. Most recently she held the position of Treasurer for the Washington, DC area Central Banking System Committee. In addition, she was the Treasurer for the National Instrumental Music Ensemble. Senior Mother Wright loved music as patron and participant. She was herself a musician who played the drums and tambourine in addition to singing with choirs including The Place Sextet and the Israelites of Washington, DC.

Senior Mtr. Arabella loved all of God’s people, but she was particularly concerned about the children and senior saints. She was an active member of the Washington, DC congregation’s Sick & Shut-In Committee. She frequently contacted saints by phone or by sending cards to enhance their welfare.

She began her Federal Government career in 1977 in Homewood, IL at the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. She concluded her 39-year Federal service when she retired in 2016 as Lead Human Resources Specialist. She was highly regarded by her colleagues and received several honorary and monetary awards acknowledging her distinguished service. She loved to travel and immerse herself in other cultures. She was fortunate to travel extensively throughout the USA. Her travels also took her to many international destinations including Europe and the Caribbean. Her latest excursion was to New Zealand in April of 2023. After retiring, in addition to continuing her work in church, she began actively serving in a volunteer capacity at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center. She put her crochet skills to use with LSFC Loving Hands Crochet Group providing blankets to four Prince George’s County hospitals and to cancer patients. On her own, she provided beautifully crafted crocheted blankets and hats for premature babies at the Laurel Pregnancy Center as well as gifting many families and friends with her lovely creations.

Senior Mtr. Arabella was preceded in death by her parents, Senior Bishop Isaiah and Advanced Senior Mother Mildred Wright, her sister, Ms. Rachel I. Wright Martin and her nephew Jamel Wright. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Elderess Selah E. Bynum, Mr. Isaiah Israel Wright, Jr., Ms. Ollie S. Wright, Sister Melba R. Wright (Bro. Raymond Hill), Deacon Solomon I. Wright, Sister Melita I. Webb (Deacon Ethan Webb), Brother David I. Wright (Sister Shantell Wright), and Sister Salome F. Wright as well as a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also leaves to celebrate her life, her aunt, Superior Mother Ruth I. Hubbard (Bishop N. Mark Hubbard).

A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in Coshocton. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
