Families celebrate Halloween at Clary Gardens
Coshocton County Fatherhood Initiative and Clary Gardens combined efforts to host a fall festival at the gardens on Oct. 28 with fun for the whole family.
Activities were provided as well as refreshments for the whole family. Everyone was invited to dress up and just come and have fun. They could walk Clary’s Scarecrow Trail and vote for their favorite scarecrow. Clark’s Orchard donated apples for a caramel apple bar, hot apple cider, hot cocoa and lemonade. The Fatherhood Initiative hid white painted rocks all over, in the woods, on the trails and even some in the gravel along the road. The white rocks could be exchanged for a prize from the prize table. There were four golden rocks good for movie passes plus a $50 gift certificate to the Yucatan, Sorrell’s on the Square or Papa John’s.
It didn’t take long for Auybree Hittle to find a gold rock. “We come every year. We were here about an hour,” said mom Amanda Hittle. Auybree didn’t know if she was taking her mom to the movies or taking her friends but she wanted to take her aunt out to dinner. Her “aunt” is a neighbor. “We helped our elderly neighbors move and she wants to take them to dinner so I guess were taking them to dinner,” Amanda said.
Five year old Kara was just enjoying the autumn day by crawling through culverts and exploring the woods and fields. She thinks it is beautiful here and her family agrees. She had been to Clary Gardens for Trick or Treat and they really enjoy the gardens.
Tim Mossman and daughter Emery 5-years-old, found all kinds of white rocks as well as a gold one. This was their first visit to the gardens.
Jessica Miskimins along with Abraham Kaku and Zephy Kaku were having a great time. “It took them a little bit to find a rock,” Jessica said. Zephy said he found a white one over in the children’s playground.
Dads and father figures were encouraged to bring the whole family for an afternoon of fun and activities and the weather wasn’t bad either.
