Miss Ohio send-off will be huge production
Miss Ohio Madison Miller is inviting everyone to her Miss America Send-Off Celebration on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at Coshocton High School. “The whole community has been so supportive of me and I want to bring a mini-Miss America contest to Coshocton so everyone can be part of it,” Miller said.
Miller couldn’t say enough about how grateful she is to the entire community who have supported her and her dream over the last several years. “I just know I couldn’t have done this without Coshocton’s support.”
The send-off celebration will be emceed by 2018 Miss Ohio Matti-Lynn Chrisman. “She’s the one who inspired me to be Miss Ohio. I was sitting at the Coshocton bowling alley and saw her Instagram post. I told my mom I was going to be Miss Ohio someday and she said ‘Sure you are.’ That made me want it even more.”
The Coshocton Honor Guard will open the celebration. “They have such a special place in my heart,” Miller said.
The first hour of the send-off will be a huge production. “All of my runners-up will be performing and so will Miss Jennifer’s Dance Studio. They will keep everyone entertained while I change outfits.” Miller will be modeling every outfit she will be wearing at the Miss America contest in January.
“This will be like a dry run for me. There will be a practice on-stage question and a Q & A session,” Miller said. “I’ll be performing my talent, wearing my evening gown and will be modeling fitness wear as the fitness part of the competition. I want everyone to feel like they are actually seeing the competition.”
Those who attend the send-off celebration will be the first ones to see her wardrobe and her talent. No photos or videos will be allowed during the production part of the send-off celebration. However, the last hour or so will be dedicated to casual time and everyone will have a chance to meet Miller and have a picture taken with her.
Miss Ohio merchandise is available to order. Miller is asking anyone who purchases a t-shirt to “dazzle it up” and wear it when she competes. “I’m pushing for red, white and blue and please send us the pictures of your shirts. At the Miss America competition, Ohio has everyone together one day and they bedazzle shirts to wear. I know so many people want to be there with me, but it’s so expensive. This would be a small way to be part of it.”
Miller’s parents, Matt and Valerie Miller, said, “We are so grateful we raised Madison and her siblings in Coshocton. They say it takes a village to raise your kids and this community was full of mentors and people who touched her life and made her who she is today. The one compliment we hear about Madison as she has traveled the state is how genuine she is and that she is all heart and you hear that when she speaks.”
“We have been so overwhelmed watching the support and love shown to her during this journey to Miss America. As her parents, we are so grateful and proud this community has embraced this journey beside us because so many of you have been a part of her life and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Madison said, “I hope everyone will be there that day and bring anyone – old, young, whoever. I was inspired in a bowling alley – who knows who might be inspired to be Miss Ohio by being there. I couldn’t have taken this journey without Coshocton and I want to thank everyone, but especially my family. I definitely wouldn’t be here without them.”
Madison will be in Orlando from Jan. 6-15. Miss America will be crowned on Jan. 14. To follow her journey as Miss Ohio, visit Facebook/Miss Ohio.
