Nina Louise (Smith) Sampsel

Nina Louise (Smith) Sampsel, 74, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at the Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville.

She was born Jan. 13, 1949 in Mechanicsburg to the late David Alex and Ethyl Irene (Parker) Smith. She was the manager of the River View Community Swimming Pool in Warsaw for several seasons, and she worked as a bus driver for River View Local Schools until her retirement.

Nina was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and was rarely seen without wearing some kind of OSU apparel. She also loved flowers and gardening, and her Schnauzers, including her current one, “Jewel”.

She is survived by a son, Neil (Kendra) Sampsel of Zanesville; step-children, Jim (Kandy) Sampsel of Coshocton, and Darlene Wilt of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Samantha (Josh) O’Dell, Preston (Maddie) Sampsel, Courtney (Brandon) Hall, Slater Sampsel, Brian (Amber) Sampsel, Cory (Kari) Sampsel, Katie (Brian) McElhaney, Jessica (Noah) Turner, Micheal Wilt, and Haley Crofton; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Mullet of Coshocton; four brothers, Richard (Bonnie) Smith of Franklin, Harold (Linda) Smith of Plain City, Jack (Gail) Smith of Howard, and Roger (Sonja) Smith of Mount Vernon; numerous nieces; and a special great-niece, Cayla Ross.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Freida Faye Alexander, Reida Smith, Ethel Sherron, Ruth Ann Frazee, Barb Curry, Helen Shoaf, and Jean Whitbeck; and a brother, Dave Smith.
