Youth entertain at the senior center

| December 22, 2023

The annual Christmas luncheon at the Coshocton Senior Center was held Dec. 21 and included a performance by the Coshocton Junior High School choir and Caroline Heading on the keyboard.

Choir Director Robert Moore said they just had a Christmas concert on Monday so they began with songs from their concert set, All is Merry, All is Bright.

“The senior center reached out and said they wanted entertainment for their Christmas dinner and getting the kids out into the community is really important to me,” he said. “The junior high wanted a caroling experience because the high school has that. We have a really nice group here. We are going to do a couple songs from our concert and we are going to sing some carols. Some of our people have family that were going to be here and that is one reason why we’re here.”

This is Moore’s first year with Coshocton High School and it has been going well. “We do have other community events,” he said. “Last week we went caroling on Thursday and we brought the high school over to sing at the elementary school. Yesterday, the elementary beginning band and choir went to Windsorwood Place, Hopewell and some other nursing homes. The community is very important and I remember from my days in school, that is where memories are made. It’s nice to be in the classroom every day and have that community, but this is an entirely different thing. They have been working hard so they deserve some fun and they get to eat today too. I think that drew a couple of them in. It is a lot of fun though.”

Senior Center director Jean Jacobs said, “We are having our Christmas luncheon today and we are going to be entertained by the Coshocton Junior high school choir. They are on Christmas break and we are overjoyed and excited that they decided to come and do this for us today. We are serving ham, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, red velvet cake and door prizes too.”

Co-director April George said the senior center sent out 500 home delivered meals and was expecting 150 for lunch and that included the choir.
