Frederick Allen Lent

Frederick Allen Lent, age 92, passed away on February 10, 2024 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born on June 21, 1931 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late James Roy and Agnes Myrtle (Moore) Lent. His parents died when he was young and he was raised in foster homes. He often visited his foster parents, Charles and Anna Voltz. He earned his GED in 1951. On February 2, 1952, he married his wife, Delores Blanche Riggle, who passed in 2022. Fred served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1968, where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired as Platoon Sargeant. Upon his return home, he worked at Pretty products until his retirement in 1993. Fred was a proud Veteran and committed to many organizations. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1330, American Legion Ralph Courtright Post 65, AMVETS Post 36, Forty & Eight of Coshocton, and Veterans of Underage Military Service. He served on the Coshocton County Veterans Council and the Coshocton Country Honor Guard having achieved an award for attending 1,000 funerals. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, meticulously caring for his lawn, feeding and watching the birds, squirrels and deer. He surfed the internet and played games on his computer including solitaire. You could find him trying his luck on lottery tickets.

He is survived by his daughters, Ruth A. Lent of Coshocton, Merry J. Dillman of Coshocton and Melissa (Mark) Maxwell of Warsaw; grandchildren, Christopher D. Williamson, Justin L. (Jordan) Marvin, Michael R. VanSickle, Mark E. (Bobbie) Maxwell Jr., and Megan L. (Gareth) Grix; great-grandchildren, Wyatt C. (Ice) Williamson, Tristan P. (Brittany) Williamson, Caitlyn K. (Brian) Daughtery, Penny I. Marvin, Ashley M. VanSickle, Ethan C. VanSickle, Toby F. VanSickle and Conner Maxwell; great-great grandchildren, Wyatt C. Williamson Jr., Beau A. Williamson, Macyann L. Williamson, Kohen P. Williamson and Karter F. Williamson; brothers, Russell E. Lent of East Hampton, MA and Benjamin A. (Bea) Stidd of Ravenna, OH.

Along with his wife, he is preceded in death by his five brothers.

Calling hours will be at The Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will begin at 1pm with Chaplin, Jack Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery with military honors performed by the Coshocton County Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Coshocton County Honor Guard, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
