Joan Elaine Hall

Joan Elaine Hall, age 88, of West Lafayette, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Lafayette Pointe Nursing Home. She was born in Hemlock, in Perry County, Ohio on September 16, 1936, to the late Paul M. Williams and Mae (Fouts) Williams.

Joan graduated from The Plains High School in Athens County in 1954 as class valedictorian. She attended Ohio University where she majored in Business Administration and Accounting. She also worked in the OU Treasurer’s Office while attending classes at OU.  Joan met her future husband, Warne Hall, while attending Ohio University. They were married on September 16, 1956, in Athens, Ohio.

When her husband Warne accepted the position of Industrial Arts Instructor at Ridgewood High School in 1965, she also began work as the Ridgewood Elementary School Secretary. She later worked at Coshocton County Head Start as the director’s Administrative Assistant. Joan retired from the Coshocton County Drug and Alcohol Council as the Administrative Assistant and Financial Officer.

Joan was a member of the West Lafayette United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the West Lafayette Pandorian Club and the West Lafayette Library Book Club. Joan enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited 48 states as well the U.S. National Parks. Her favorite trips included visits to Yellowstone National Park and New York City, where they attended many Broadway shows.

Joan is survived by her husband Warne T. Hall, who she was married to for 67 years; daughter Lois “Sam” (Jim) Palmer of Pataskala, OH and son Warne “Tracey” (Debra) Hall, Jr. of Canton, OH; grandchildren Dustin (Amy) Hall of Canton, OH and Brian (Megan) Earley of Blacklick, OH; great-grandchild Nora Hall; brother Timothy (Jan) Williams of Rockbridge, OH; sister-in-law Marilyn Williams of Athens, OH. Joan is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Wayne Williams.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 10: 00 am to 11:00 am at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with Interim Hospice Chaplin, Linda Danskin officiating. A burial will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made towards the Shriner’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Plaza, 2 West, Dayton, Ohio 45404.
