Donald Rex Padgett

Donald Rex Padgett, age 82, of Coshocton, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born September 6, 1941, in Linton, Indiana to the late John and Helen (Utterback) Padgett.

Don graduated from Franklin College in Indiana. While living in Indiana, he worked in Insurance, owned two bakeries and worked as a mine construction worker for Peabody before being transferred to Coshocton. Once in Coshocton, he continued at Peabodys and later owned and operated Main Office Supply and Padgett’s Bakery.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Eagles and the AMVETS. You never saw Don without a cigarette or his dogs. He enjoyed reading, golfing, and being with his family

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joy (Dickerson) Padgett; son, Walter (Melissa) Padgett of Florida; granddaughter, Calen (Jed) Cox; great-grandchildren, Jericho and Nila Cox all of Indiana; sister, Christy Gastineau of Indiana; aunt, Kathleen Fishero of Indiana; brothers-in-law, Victor Dickerson and Bill (Reeva) Dickerson both of Coshocton and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10:00 am with Father Thomas Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Don’s name to Sacred Heart School or the Coshocton Animal Shelter.
