Donald E. Hunter

Donald Eugene Hunter, 72, died Saturday, May 11, 2024 at his residence.

He was born Jan. 10, 1952 in Coshocton Co. to the late Donald Dean and Emily (Fowler) Hunter. He was a heavy equipment operator for numerous companies, and a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Union. He also worked in oil fields for many years.

Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a guide & volunteer for Disabled Veterans Outdoors, a Hunter Safety Instructor for the ODNR Division of Wildlife, as well as a nuisance trapper.  He always enjoyed going to the casinos at Wheeling and Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 27 years, Kathy S. (Gause) Hunter of Nashport, whom he married July 12, 1997; two children, Steven Hunter of Coshocton, and Dawn K. (Reuben) Miller of Shreve; his grandchildren, Jared McCluggage of Blissfield, Mac Stewart of Millersburg, Meghan Stewart of Millersburg, Emma Hunter, Dakota Hunter, and Eliyah Hunter; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, and his beloved dog, “Gracie Mae”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; his grandparents, Henry & Sidney Fowler, and Basil & Becky Hunter; and his lifelong best friend, Rand McCullough.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m., with Sandy Jones officiating. Private burial will take place at Blissfield Cemetery. Fischerfuneralhome.com
