| June 7, 2024

Margaret Ann (Carpenter) Darr, 87, passed away at Altercare on Saturday, May 18, 2024 while surrounded by her family

She was born in Coshocton on May 1, 1937. She was the daughter of Lewis E. and Sarah A. (Elliott) Carpenter. She graduated in 1956 from Keene High School, and was married to John Daniel Darr on July 7, 1958. She retired from Shaw-Barton/JII after many years of service, and was a former member of the Ohio Federation of Business & Professional Women. She attended Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church where she often assisted with Vacation Bible School and other Church Functions.

Margaret was active with the Conesville Elementary PTO and enjoyed dressing as a clown and handing out candy during the Fall Festival.  She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and served as a class grandmother at Ridgewood Elementary school. She enjoyed cooking and baking pies and cookies with her family.  She would often bake dozens of cookies to send to her children and grandchildren, wherever they were at the time, for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.  Her wall calendar was filled with both family and friends, marking special events (Birthdays & Anniversaries) so they would always get a call or a card in the mail. Margaret enjoyed listening to music and taking bus tours with her husband. She loved to attend school and sporting events where her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were playing, and she treasured all of the photos of her family and friends. Her special passion was her amazingly beautiful flower gardens that she tended with love.

She is survived by her son, Rick (Mary) Darr of Newark; daughter, Cindy (Terry) Moore of West Lafayette; six grandchildren, Toya (Moore) & Justin Wilkins of Fresno, Dianna (Darr) & Ben Hammett of North Carolina, Ethan & Carly Moore of Gnadenhutten, John Darr & Colleen Harris of Delaware, Josephine (Darr) & Conor Liston of Columbus, and Audrey Darr of Columbus; eight great grandchildren, Brynlyn and Kace Conrad, Kohlten and Emmaree Rose Moore; Layna, Nace, & Rohen Hammett, and Reed Wilkins; sister-in-law, Joan (Bails) Darr of Warsaw; several nieces and nephews; special Friends including lifelong friend Virginia (Stone) Carroll, Larry and Hazel McCormick, and Leigh Meade.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; siblings, infant sister, Wilma, brother, Lewis W. Carpenter, and sisters, Helen P. Sells, and Betty Grace Mowery; infant granddaughter, Rachel Ann Moore, and special Friend, Rachel O. Emig.

A graveside service will be held at Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw on Saturday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Jones will be officiating.
