Kick for a Cure cancer fundraiser planned for July 27
For the last several years, a special event has been held in the summer to raise money to help find a cure for cancer. This year, the Kick for a Cure Soccer match will be held Saturday, July 27 at Stewart Field in Coshocton. The game will start at 6 p.m
Braeden Wheeler and Drew Ireland are two of the organizers of the event. Each year, they strive to raise a little more money than the year before and they continually reach their goal. Both young men played soccer in high school and still enjoy the game. They decided to get a bunch of friends together to play an exhibition soccer game to raise money.
This year, they also sold t-shirts to help raise more money. Local businesses sponsored the shirts.
The game is “open to all current and former soccer players from River View and Coshocton, both men and women,” Wheeler said. “We’re asking anyone who plans on playing to bring a $5 minimum donation, but for spectators, there is no set amount we are asking for.” A donation table will be set up at the game.
“Anyone who is interested in playing should just bring a white and black t-shirt and show up the day of the game,” Wheeler said.
They have raised more than $1,000 since they began their Kick for a Cure events.
