Youth theatre camp to be held at Clary Gardens
A camp for youth, from kindergarten through 12th grade, who are interested in all aspects of theatre will be held from Monday through Friday, July 22-26 at Clary Gardens. There are two sessions each day. Grades kindergarten through fifth is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and grades sixth to 12th is from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per students and each session is limited to 15 students.
Mary McMullen will be the instructor. For the last several years, she has lead the River View drama club and musicals. She said that both sessions are already half filled.
“Theatre camp offers a full foundational theatre experience for willing young people. Campers will learn about being on stage, back stage, and everything it takes to put on a show,” McMullen said. “This year, we will be incorporating some technical elements like sound and animation, as well.”
McMullen said she wanted to offer the theatre camp so everyone has a chance to fall in love with theatre. “Camps will also help grow the base of kids who love theatre” and will be interested in joining the drama clubs at their schools.
On Friday, July 26, the classes will be combined with a performance at 3 p.m. that afternoon. The camp will be held in the pavilion at Clary Gardens.
If your child would like to register, email McMullen at mary.mcmullen07@gmail.com. Checks for the camp fee can be made out and sent to Clary Gardens.
