Check it out at the Library is theme for West Lafayette Homecoming
The 76th Annual West Lafayette Homecoming will be held July 25–27. The gates will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, with rides by Albanese Amusements and Precious Treasures will have a food stand. The queen contest will begin at 6 p.m. at Burt Park.
From 3-7 p.m. on Friday, there will be a blood drive sponsored by Happy Tracks 4-H Club. Please contact Ed Huff at 740-502-9028 for more information. The eat stand will open at 5 p.m. with a full menu. The rides will also open at 5 p.m.
Parade line-up begins at 6 p.m. and so does the corn roast by the FFA Alumni.
The parade, with Grand Marshall, Andrea Smith, will begin at 7 p.m. Mayor Jessie Tubbs, Chamber President Oren Griffith and the 2024 Queens and visiting queens will offer their welcome speeches beginning at 8 p.m. on the main stage.
From 8:30 – 10:30 p.m., Three Rivers Trio will be playing on the main stage. The merchandise drawing will be at 10:30 p.m. and you must have your ticket. The tickets are good for both nights.
Saturday is full of events. Registration for the 5K run/walk begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Ridgewood Cross Country shelter. Dave’s pancake breakfast will be available at the eat stand from 8-10 a.m. The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The AMA RC-Fun Fly Show will be at the football field from 9-11 a.m. No one will be allowed on the field. Miss Jody’s Dance Studio will present a show at 9 a.m. in front of the bandstand.
At 10 a.m., regular merchandise, 50/50 and ticket sales will begin. Andrea Smith will lead story-time at the library at 10:30 a.m. The pet parade sign-up will begin at 11 a.m. with the parade starting at 11:30 a.m. The rides and the eat stand will open at noon.
The West Lafayette Police Department and the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Department will present a Rescue K-9 Show at 2 p.m. in the area behind the headquarters stand.
Schumaker Farms and Luke McGarvey will be serving a chicken dinner at the back side of the eat stand beginning at 4 p.m. The cost is $12 per dinner. Also, at 4 p.m., M & J’s East Coast Entertainment – Tim Bethel – will be in front of the eat stand.
Four on the Floor Band will be playing on the main stage from 5-7 p.m. and the New Towne Cloggers will begin at 7 p.m. Diamond in the Rough will begin playing at 8 p.m. until the fireworks dedication at 9:45 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. Another merchandise drawing will be held at 10:30 p.m.
Chamber President Oren Griffith would like to remind the community that everything the committee does for the homecoming is “by donations only from our amazingly supportive community and surrounding areas and we can’t thank everyone enough.” The committee is still taking donations.
