Come enjoy sunflowers and fun at the Coshocton KOA
More than 50 varieties of sunflowers will be in the four-acre field during the seventh annual sunflower festival to be held Aug. 9-11. The festival is located at the Coshocton KOA at 24688 CR-10 in Coshocton.
The festival will include live music, food trucks, craft vendors and a beer and wine garden. A wagon will take you to the field and each guest may choose a sunflower to take home.
Before and after the main festival, special events will be happening in the sunflower fields. On Saturday, Aug. 3, Sippin’ on Sunshine will be held. This is a beer and wine tasting event in the sunflower field. Wander the field to different tasting bars, shop from craft vendors, grab food from a truck and enjoy live music.
U-Pick days will be held Sunday through Tuesday, Aug. 4-6 and Thursday through Friday, Aug. 15-16. These days are the perfect time to enjoy the beauty of the field with fewer people. It’s also a wonderful time to plan photographs. A refreshment and merchandise stand will be available during the u-pick days. Each ticket includes a sunflower of your choice. There is no wagon ride for the u-pick days.
The final festival day will be Saturday, Aug. 17 and, on this day, the zinnia patches will be open for picking. A wagon ride will take you to the festival area that will include food trucks, live music and craft vendors.
The field has several unique photo-ops. This year, several local artists, including Amy Casey, Rachel Hall, Brandon Matz, and Halley Jones, will be painting a Volkswagen Beetle to be used as one of the photo props.
Tickets for the festival and u-pick days are on sale at coshoctonsunflowerfestival.com. Season passes are available so you can enjoy the field as often as you would like with just one ticket. Season pass holders may go to the Sippin’ on Sunshine event, but tasting is not included in the pass. Tasting will be an additional $20.
Visitors are reminded that sunflowers are an agricultural crop and growth is subject to weather. The festival cannot guarantee the sunflowers will bloom by a certain day. You are encouraged to check the festival Facebook page for updates. Also, bees are in the fields. If you are allergic, please be prepared in case you get stung.
