Louis “Lou” Gardina

Louis “Lou” Gardina, 73, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 25, 2024. He was born to Mary (Bracone) ad Joseph Gardina on March 30, 1951 in Dennison, Ohio. He graduated from Coshocton High School in 1969 and went to Kent State. In 1958, his family moved to Coshocton and opened the first pizza shop in Coshocton, which was enjoyed by many generations. The family was 100% Italian so Lou and his siblings are great cooks. In Coshocton, he worked in the Welfare Department and several car dealerships. He worked at Children Services in Morgan County until 1984 until he moved back to Coshocton. On March 17, 1984, he married Carol (Fortune) Holskey. Lou was a great people person with a quick wit, full of jokes and a plethora of information. He loved his family and friends and made sure they knew it.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol; sons, Nicholas (Christina) Gardina of Westerville, Louie (Erin) Gardina of Columbus, Darrell Holskey of Coshocton and Tobie (Brian) Coogan of Spokane, WA; 4 granddaughters, Brittany Holskey of Harrisburg, PA, Olivia (Michael) Pina of Post Falls, ID, Bailey (Niles) Coogan of Spokane, WA and Mira Gardina and a great-granddaughter, Lucia “Lucy” Ann Pina; siblings, Mary (Bob) Lapp of Columbus and Tony (Cindy) Gardina of Kettering, OH and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joe Gardina, his in laws, Mary and Joe Fortune; brother, Joe Gardina, brother-in-law, Dave Fortune and sister-in-law, Roxie Simpson.

A cremation will take place with the Miller-Kaser Cremation Services and a Celebration of Life will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church a later date.
