“Ridgewood Local Schools are excited about the upcoming school year and eagerly anticipate the return of students and staff during the week of Monday, Aug. 19. We are grateful for the dedication of our 12 month employees who have worked tirelessly this summer to prepare the buildings and grounds. Their efforts have ensured a welcoming and ready environment for everyone. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead,” Masloski said.
Mark Kowalski, Coshocton City Schools Superintendent, said he is pleased that there are no new administrators in his district this year. “Having the same team will provide consistency for the students and staff. Our fall sports are already practicing and have had scrimmages. I am looking forward to a successful season for our fall sports teams, band and cheerleaders.”
The first day of school for Coshocton will be Wednesday, Aug. 21 for grades one through 12. Kindergarten will begin on Thursday, Aug. 22. The district will have its open houses on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The elementary school open house will begin at 5 p.m. and the high school will start at 6 p.m.
River View Local School District Superintendent Chuck Rinkes said the first day of school for that district will be Tuesday, Aug. 27. He also shared that many teachers in the district have moved to different grades or subjects.
River View has been busy with improvements this summer. New bleachers were put in Luther Stover Memorial Gym and the gym floor is being redone with a new logo and shading areas on the court. Two walls are being built to split two classrooms at the intermediate school. A facilities condition assessment is being done to assess current systems and what needs to be replaced in the buildings throughout the 2024 – 2025 school year. “The board will have a work session before school starts to review the assessment and prioritize what projects need to be addressed in the future,” Rinkes said.
An HVAC upgrade was finished in part of the high school to provide heat and air (most of this project was paid for by ESSER funds) and a replacement of the boiler system at the high school. New signage was posted at the River View Soccer Complex, purchased by the soccer boosters.
Rinkes also shared that the start and end times of the district have been moved by 15 minutes. At the high school, teachers will be there from 7 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and doors will open at 7:05 a.m. for students. Bear period begins at 7:30 a.m. and the day ends at 2:12 p.m. For the intermediate and elementary schools, teachers will be there from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and doors will open for students at 9 a.m. The tardy bell will ring at 9:20 a.m. and dismissal is from 3:20 – 3:45 p.m. “This will help our elementary students get home sooner in the afternoon.”
The elementary open house is Thursday, Aug. 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. and the intermediate will be Monday, Aug. 26 from 5-6:30 p.m. Open house at the high school will be Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 5-6:30 p.m.
