Donald “Rick” Richard Jones

| September 3, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald “Rick” Richard Jones, known affectionately as Round O, of Coshocton, OH. Born on February 13, 1956, Rick passed away on August 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He spent 34 years as a dedicated maintenance worker at AEP Conesville, retiring to enjoy his passions in life. He had a special bond and brotherhood with the AEP guys he had worked with for many years. They always were there to support one another through the many years of retirement.

A proud member of Beloved Ministries, Sons of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge, Rick found joy in the camaraderie of his fellow members. He had a love for watching sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and Guardians and the Ohio State football, and westerns. He enjoyed spending time at Coffee Connection every morning with the coffee group. His laughter, storytelling, and jokes brought light to all who knew him.

As an accomplished pool player and motorcycle enthusiast, Rick found peace in the thrill of the ride and the competition of the game. His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He had great love for the Lord and his faith, he would always say “We will trust, we will believe”.

Rick is survived by his wife Joan Jones, who he married May 18, 1974; children Melissa (Travis) Webb and Anthony (Shelly) Jones; grandchildren to Robert Cabell, Sophia, Mason, Mallory, Hayden (Chaelynn), Kristyn, and Chandler (Annie) Burris-Jones;  honorary grandchildren Elaina, Ezra, and Evelyn Latynski and Danika and Alli Vickers, and their mother, Roxy; two great grandchildren, Charlotte Mae and Collins Ann; brothers William “Bill” (Kim) Jones and James “Jim” (Linda) Jones; sister Casandra “Sandy” Miller; brother-in-law Erik (April) Franks; sister-in-law Kelly (Bob) Stark; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick’s spirit will live on in the stories he shared, the jokes he told, and the love he gave. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Jones and Barbara (Shaw) Gress; stepfather Elmer Gress; brother-in-law George “Steve” S. Franks; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ruth and George F. Franks.

Calling hours will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton, OH 43812 on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm and one hour prior to the funeral service.  Funeral services for Rick will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am with Pastor Aaron Mencer officiating.
