Hannelore “Lore” Martha Leigh
Hannelore “Lore” Martha Leigh, 85, has entered Heaven and a place of other Gods angels on Saturday, September 21, 2024. She was born on May 29, 1939 in Neulussheim, Germany to the late Georg and Martha Katharine Weist.
Growing up in in Schwetzingen, Germany, she worked with her grandparents in their laundry and drying cleaning business. She loved attending church, especially with her Anna “Oma” and she enjoyed helping her beloved Georg “Opa” in the spargel field. She was a member of the Evangelical Parish (Protestant Church) of Neulussheim.
In August of 1959, she married Manfred Remo Facco and had their daughter, Petra Manuela, before divorcing in 1962.
Following her divorce, she worked at the factory in Bruhl as a team leader. She met her husband, James “Jim” Dewey Leigh, while he was serving in the United States military in Schwetzingen. They were married July 1, 1966 in Schwetzingen and were married for 58 years. Together they moved to Ohio in October 1966, where she worked cleaning houses, at Pretty Products and General Electric. After being laid off from GE, she then graduated from Ohio State College and received her master’s degree in Beauty Services and opened her own business in Coshocton as a hairdresser.
After Jim lost his job in 1979, they decided to relocate back to Schwetzingen, Germany. From 1979-1981, she worked at the Frank-Kircher business. Then from 1981-1993 as a terminal/telex specialist from John Deere Departs/Ersatzeile Division before retiring.
After her retirement she then returned to class and received her degree/licenses for Nail Sculpturing and opened her own business in Schwetzingen.
Lore loved to dance and work crossword puzzles. She was well known for baking German cakes and her knitted Christmas gifts, that she gave to her family and friends. She kept a tidy house and enjoyed cleaning and when time allowed, she loved watching soap operas during the day.
With Jim they traveled extensively through the years and after retiring they made annual trips back and forth to their homes in Ohio and Germany. She always enjoyed uniting with many of her German friends, but most of all she loved her Eppelheim Family, Domenico, Rosaria, and their children.
Along with her parents she is united in death with her daughter, Pedra Manuela Ricki and her grandparents, and her pets, Kookie and Scahtz.
Lore is survived by her husband, Jim Leigh; sister Christel (Hans) Strauss sister-in-law Ruth (Dave) Bush; and brother-in-law Gene (Alletta) Leigh.
She will be missed by many.
