Joy Esther Crawford

Joy Esther Crawford, 79, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 12, 1945 in Montgomery Co. to the late William Andrew and Dorothy E. (Henger) Hanes. She was a 1963 graduate of Union High School, a member of the Warsaw Presbyterian Church, and the Muskingum Chapter #485 Order of Eastern Star.

Joy was proud of her work as a Licensed Practical Nurse, which included locally at Echoing Hills, and several facilities in the Columbus area. At home, she loved gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William A. Crawford of Coshocton, whom she married April 12, 1969; a son, James (Lisa) Crawford of Coshocton; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Marie Crawford of Blackshear, GA; her grandchildren, Tiffany Cox, Brittany (Ted) Tanner, Jessica (Mike) Williamson, and Marissa (Brandon) Stewart; great grandchildren, Bently O’Berry, Brailey O’Berry, Crawford Cox, Jameson Williamson, Addison Williamson, Olivet Stewart, & Otis Stewart; sister, Ruth Ann (Don) Mason, Warsaw; and a sister-in-law, Imogene Hanes of Walhonding.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Crawford; a sister, Naomi Lelievre; and two brothers, Everett and John Hanes.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Warsaw Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robert Wright officiating. Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling arrangements. A memorial page is available at fischerfuneralhome.com.
