Tiverton Institute planned for March
Each year, the Tiverton Institute offers music, baking contests and speakers on a wide range of topics and this year is no exception. The Tiverton Institute is planned for Wednesday and Thursday, March 5-6 in the grange hall at the corner of County Road 20 and State Route 205.
Each day starts with coffee and donuts at 9:45 a.m. followed by group singing at 10:15 a.m.
On Wednesday, two baking contests will be held. Adults need to bake a red velvet cake, while children 16 and under can bake peanut butter cookies.
At 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Pearl Valley Cheese will be the speaker. They are the 2024 World Cheese Contest winner for Swiss Cheese and John Olenzar will be talking about artifacts from the area. At 1 p.m., Patrick Drouhard will be presenting on the history of the rebellion at Fort Fizzle and Ken Smailes will be speaking about local connection with the Civil War.
At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, River View High School will be presenting music. Shane Pyle will be speaking about animal rescue.
The poster contest theme this year is “125 Years of Tiverton Grange.”
On Thursday, Brad Perkins will be talking about Bald Eagles at 10:30 a.m., along with Brett Kinzel from the Coshocton Extension Office. Alice Hoover will be presenting an Underground Railroad Reenactment at 1 p.m. Mike Bechtol will also be talking about travels and adventures.
There will be a soup supper from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday with music by Bill Given and local youth at 7 p.m.
Both days will have a covered dish lunch and door prizes.
