Girl Scouts host camp
COSHOCTON – Friends Alexis Isbell and Elizabeth Shatley are making the best of their time in Coshocton.
“Coshocton is pretty,” Isbell said. “I like the pool (at Lake Park) and there are lots of cows and trees here.”
She and Shatley are both from Missouri and are staying in Coshocton while their fathers work on the pipeline.
The 10-year-olds enjoyed swimming at the Aquatic Center and attending Girl Scout Camp, which was held June 24-25 at the park.
The camp was for girls in kindergarten through fifth grade and you didn’t have to be a Girl Scout to attend.
“It’s something to keep them busy and help them make new friends,” said Kayla Davis, who works for the Girl Scouts.
Davis kept the girls busy by having them tie dye paper with shaving cream and food coloring, make jewelry beads out of magazine pages and create lip gloss with Vaseline and Kool-Aid. They also cooled off with water games and stayed active by dancing, cheering and playing softball with a giant ball.
“Wal-Mart and Coshocton Rotary helped us fund the events we held here and at Burt Park in West Lafayette,” Davis said.

“We had good teachers,” Isbell said. “I really liked dancing and doing hip hop. I’ve been to a lot of places and this is one of the good ones.”
