Sacred Heart School accepting income-based scholarship recipients
COSHOCTON – The application window for the state’s new income-based scholarship program is now open, and Sacred Heart Elementary is accepting recipients of the scholarship.
There are 2,000 scholarships available for incoming kindergarteners for the 2013-14 school year. Recipients will receive scholarships worth $4,250 to be used toward tuition at the participating private school of their choice. Scholarships can be renewed through graduation.
Any incoming kindergarten student whose family’s income is at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines is eligible to apply. For example, a family of four with a household income at or below $46,100 is eligible to apply. The application window is open now and will close Wednesday, July 31.
Families can access the scholarship application now on the Ohio Department of Education’s website. The application and all supporting documents must be postmarked by 4 p.m. July 31.
Sacred Heart Elementary is now accepting students who apply for this scholarship program for this year’s kindergarten class. The income-based scholarship program was signed into law by Ohio Governor John Kasich on June 30, as part of the state budget bill. For the 2014-15 school year, the program will expand, and first grade students as well as incoming kindergarteners will be eligible to apply.
