Sheriff’s Office Morning Report for September 18

On September 17 the Sheriff’s Office investigated one accident and zero complaints.

Accidents

– ON 9-17-2013 AT 2:54 P.M. DISPATCH RECEIVED A 911 CALL OF A ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES AT 400 NORTH WHITEWOMAN STREET. UPON ARRIVAL DEPUTIES DISCOVERED THAT A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY CHARLES MILLER WAS EAST BOUND ON HILL STREET. THE BRAKES ON THE 1996 FORD EXPLORER MILLER WAS DRIVING FAILED TO OPERATE. THE FORD EXPLORER THEN CROSSED WHITEWOMAN STREET STRIKING A 2008 TOYOTA PRIUS OCCUPIED BY GEORGE BALDWIN OF COLUMBUS. MARY BALDWIN WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OF THE TOYOTA WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK. THE TOYOTA THEN STRUCK MRS. BALDWIN THROWING HER ACROSS THE SIDEWALK AND INTO A IRON GATE. THE EXPLORER THEN STRUCK A 1992 MERCURY OWNED BY COSHOCTON COUNTY AIRPORT. THE EXPLORER THEN HIT A BRICK PILLAR CAUSING IT TO FLIP OVER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ON THE PATIO OF THE WAREHOUSE STEAK AND STEIN. CHARLES MILLER AS WELL AS HIS ONE MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WERE TRANSPORTED TO CCMH BY CCEMS AND LATER FLOWN TO OSU IN COLUMBUS. MARY SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE BY COUNTY CORONER ROBERT GWINN. THIS ACCIDENT REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION. ASSISTING AT THE SCENE WAS, COSHOCTON CITY FIRE, COSHOCTON COUNTY REACT, CCEMS, AND PRINCES WRECKER SERVICE.
