Football for a cause
WARSAW – Female teachers at River View High School took the field against female students in the school’s annual powder puff football game. The game was held Oct. 18, at Don Rushing Stadium and was a fundraiser for the school’s Relay For Life team.
In addition to the game, the students also were entertained by male teachers and students who pumped them up with cheerleading routines and the marching band. Baked goods, Relay For Life candy bars, pop and water also were sold in the concession stand.
The idea for the game was originally brought up by Malinda Baker. She is now retired from the school, but came back to stand on the sidelines with the teachers.
“I’ve always loved football and wanted to play,” she said. “I thought this was a great way to have fun and still raise money for Relay For Life. The smack talk was always the best part.”
