Focus group discusses ‘Contagion’
What would happen if an infectious disease broke out in Coshocton County? Would county emergency responders be prepared? That’s what public health officials and other community members discussed today, Wednesday, Dec. 4 in the Frontier Power Community Room after watching the 2011 movie, ‘Contagion’. The event was facilitated by Christy Mosier, Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, and Betty King, Regional Public Health Coordinator. “If this were happening here in Ohio, would we be prepared and what effect would it have on your agency?” asked King. Participants in the table discussion agreed that hospitals would need to be notified, doctors would need to keep a close eye on all patient symptoms, the sick would need to be secluded from the healthy, and there would need to be a way to notify residents of the disease.
