Local Bounty update

| February 6, 2014

Good morning LB Shoppers: We started to give Local Bounty a mini-makeover this week with the installation of a new counter space (no more old wobbly counter). The makeover will continue into the next couple of weeks with new curtains and more.

Hall – RB – Hill

This week we will have Herby Whole Wheat and our Honey Whole Wheat, both are made with a blend of unbleached, unbromated, Non GMO white flour and chemical free prairie gold flour!  I will also have little french loaves or ‘Boule’,  they have a wonderfully tender crumb and a crusty crust.  Can you believe they are made with only 4 ingredients?  Stop by and see me on Friday 10-2, the first 10 customers get a free mini loaf of my new breads!

Keene Creek Farm

Bacon’s gone again. But no worries, you won’t have to wait too long to get more. We have two more pigs scheduled for processing next week. In the next couple of weeks we will have more marinated loin chops, Stan’s Special blend sausage (bulk and patties), and much more back in stock. We had a semi-surprise arrival at the farm this week. Our Texas Longhorn heifer had a calf Sunday morning. Our four-year-old daughter deemed her Daisy as we encouraged her to pick a “think spring” name. Daisy is having a time tromping through the snow/ice to keep up with her momma, but she has several places she bed down to help her stay warm. I worry about her in the frigid cold, but Rowdi keeps reminding me that she’s an animal and nature designed her to survive these elements. Lastly, no fresh fudge in the market today. There is some left from last week in the cooler. Time ran short this week. We may have more fresh tomorrow, but no promises.

Mill Creek Homestead

If your hands are chapped and cracking in this cold, cold weather be sure to pick up some shea butter (lots of scents available) or some healing salve to help them heal. Apply either a couple times a day and within a couple of days you’ll see a tremendous difference. Also, for any nose (big or small) suffering from extreme tissue rub (from blowing, wiping, etc.), our Heal My Nose product is a must. Apply it to dry, chapped, red noses for some much needed relief.

Salad Bar Farms

This week we will again have lots of lettuce and kale to offer you all. What a treat the greens are in the dead of winter. Toss the kale into smoothies for an extra nutritional boost.

Strawberry Hill Farm

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and Mary has baked more buttery shortbread that would make a great gift for your sweetie. We’re bringing shortbread this week and next, in 1/4 lb. and 1/2 pound sizes. If you’d like a whole shortbread (1 lb.), Mary would be happy to make one for you. Just give us a call at 545-7828. Our strawberry jam would also make a great addition to your Valentine’s Day table. Keep warm!

Sunnybrook Acres

We have restocked our shelves and added some new products! Foot care sets(include Foot Soak, Foot Scrub, Foot Creme and a small pumice stone) and also some gift bags perfect for that special Valentine’s Day gift! Hope you all are staying warm in all this snow and cold!

Wholesome Valley Farm

Last week we restocked our potatoes and maple syrup supplies at the market. Our potatoes cook up wonderfully for any type of comfort food dish you’re planning.

Woodberry Farm

It is cold outside, we can’t work in the yard because it is covered in snow. We can build lots of snowmen and igloos, or just be really creative inside. We have been busy creating a new flavor of fudge just in time for Valentines Day. Cherry chocolate is our new flavor featuring goat milk, rich and creamy chocolate with cherry flavoring and chopped cherries folded into the mix and dusted with red sugar crystals, yum. We will have samples at Local Bounty for you to try. We are  featuring this flavor cut into heart shapes in small gift packs. We are also offering fudge gift packs ready for that special someone. Each box includes two heart shaped pieces of each of our flavors ( chocolate, peanut butter, butter pecan, cappuccino, and new flavor cherry chocolate. We have also been busy laying our plans for garden for the coming spring. It should be a very productive season this year. Look for the mini shopping cart in our booth area for the spotlight items of the month.  Thank you for supporting the Local Bounty.

Cookie Decorating Class: February 9

As of the last count, the cookie decorating class with Katie Hultz is full. We have a wait list started, so you can call the market and add your name to it if you’d like.

Hope to see you all out at the market this week!
