Local Bounty Update
Good morning LB Shoppers – Did you know the average bite of food in the United States travels some 1,500 miles from farm to plate (that’s almost the distance between Coshocton and Las Vegas). But, of the foods at Local Bounty travel an average of 13.5 miles from farm to plate. Thanks for keeping it local folks. We appreciate the opportunity to feed you every day.
Here’s what you can expect at Local Bounty this week:
Hillbippie
This week we have some NEW items for you! Happy Morning Cinnamon Rolls are a must have for breakfast. They are filled with cinnamon goodness! We will also have Pleasant Peasant Bread which is a nice blend of Unbleached Flour, Whole Wheat Flour and Rye Flour. It has a chewy crumb, wonderful flavor and a crackling crust. I will have Rustic Baguettes and Boule this afternoon. Focaccia makes its return on Friday! P.S My new bread bags are totally compostable!
Keene Creek Farm
Our pork freezer is restocked and is bursting at its seal. Peppered bacon, Canadian bacon, marinated loin chops, smoked loin chops, Stan’s breakfast blend sausage (bulk and patties), ham loaf, brats…it’s all there. We took more pigs to the processor yesterday and are having a couple of new products made for you. But, you’ll have to wait and see what they are. Thanks for your continued support and for your patience. Lastly, a little customer feedback to share, here’s what one customer e-mailed us this week, “We fixed your ham loaf the other day…Absolutely delicious (we nearly came to blows over who got the last piece). The smoke flavor was perfect, wasn’t too salty, and the tenderness of the meat was outstanding. Best ham loaf we have ever had. If I were a 5 star restaurant, I wouldn’t flinch at having that on the menu. You guys are doing a great job with your pork. Keep it up.” Thanks for sharing, we love to hear from you.
Thousand Hill Acres LLC
The snow has melted up here on the ridge and we have taken full advantage of being able to get around with ease again. The piggies have really enjoyed the warmer weather. They have been spending most of their days out in the woods browsing for moss and other greenery throughout their paddock. After a hard hit to our stock at local bounty last week, our freezer has been re-stocked and is ready for another round this weekend. We will have samples available on Thursday from 10-2 featuring our mild Italian sausage and the marinara from our new vendor at Local Bounty. On a side note, we have been researching permaculture design and how it can help our farm build, capture, and retain all of the key elements in our system. Hopefully, we will be able to start some of these practices in the near future… We will keep everyone updated.
Woodberry Farm
Although winter will not let go let us think spring and those days of taking nature walks on the many trails that Coshocton County offers. Before you head out on the trail why not stop by the Local Bounty and pick up some trail mix, maybe a refreshing water and of course don’t forget the lip balm from both Mill Creek Homestead and Sunnybrook Acres. March’s item of the month is, you guessed it, our trail mix. We will be offering two new mixes this month Aunt K’s Tropic thunder ( a mix of pineapple, mango, papaya, cranberries, raisins, coconut, almonds, and peanuts) and Sky Fall ( a mix of chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, peanuts, raisins, and cranberries). So think SPRING and come on down the Local Bounty and see all the wonderful things that all the vendors have to offer.
Young Farms
We have restocked our beef freezer at Local Bounty with all of your favorite cuts – along with a couple of new ones including sirloin burgers and ground round.
Local Bounty’s Hiring
