Windsorwood Place celebrates assisted living week

COSHOCTON – Betty Leech likes to work on her watercolor pieces of art every day.
“I like to be challenged,” she said.
Leech took art lessons after working for 40 years.
“I like watercolors because if you don’t like what you did you can throw it in the waste basket and start over,” she said.
Leech displayed her work Sept. 12, during the open house art show Windsorwood held as part of its assisted living week celebration.
“The staff is so kind and wonderful,” said Leech, who is a resident at Windsorwood.
The theme for the week was art for the ages.
“It’s a very busy week, but I don’t mind that when I see my tenants smile and laugh and know they are happy,” said Marla Myers, activities director at Windsorwood.
She added the art show to the many activities she planned for the week to give the Windsorwood residents and the community a way to interact with each other.
“The residents can show their artwork and the community can share theirs,” Myers said. “The community is always so wonderful when I ask for help.”
Two area residents who participated in the art show were Larry Bryan and Dan Moody from the Coshocton County Woodcarvers.
“We like to get together and talk and compare notes,” Moody said.
He displayed his Santas and characters and Bryan showcased his reliefs.
“It’s relaxing to do,” Bryan said.
Windsorwood wrapped up its celebration with a trip to River View High School on Sept. 15, to have dinner and enjoy the Singing Buckeyes and Park Avenue.
