COTC to hold free summer workshops

NEWARK – Central Ohio Technical College is still accepting registration for CollegeASPIRE workshops for summer 2014. These workshops offer community youth the opportunity to choose from faculty-led, hands-on workshops designed to provide students with engaging activities on a college campus. All summer workshops are Monday through Friday, June 16 – 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. daily.

At the COTC Knox Campus, Medical Madness workshop will provide a glimpse into the life of a first responder. For ages 14 to 18, this workshop will show you what to do if you’re the first person on the scene and you will earn your First Aid and CPR Certifications.

Express your creativity with the Digital Media workshop at the COTC Coshocton Campus. In this workshop offered for ages 14 – 18, students will explore the fundamentals of digital media and enjoy being creative through photography, video production, animation and website development. Application is due May 31.

It’s heating up at the COTC Pataskala Campus with the Fire Science workshop for ages 14-18. Explore a local fire academy and its departments, investigate specialized equipment and take a trip through a smoke haze.

The Knox Campus Medical Madness workshop application deadline has been extended to Friday, June 13.

Free transportation will be available within 15 miles of the selected workshop. Deadline to request transportation is June 6. Plus, mark your calendars for Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Newark Campus for a CollegeASPIRE Open House featuring student work from throughout the week.
