Shepler Church celebrates 125 years

| June 9, 2014

MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP – More than 100 people attended the June 8 morning worship service that was part of Shepler Church’s 125th anniversary celebration and the church was still packed for the afternoon program.

Special songs were sung and people shared memories about how important the church has been in their lives. Linda Ames Brenly even shared a song she wrote about growing up in the church.

“Years have gone by, but the church still stands and memories from there will stay in my heart,” she said while reading her song to those who gathered together for the celebration.

Former preachers also were invited to attend and share their memories.

“I was here two years and they were the best two years of my life,” said Kevin Jarrells, who once preached at the church.

Shepler Church is located at 47507 TR 217 in Millcreek Township. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. and the worship service is at 10:30 a.m. The current pastor is Rev. Robert D. Angel.
