Sign up for the Agricultural Emergency Responder Rescue Program

NEWARK – The Ohio State University Extension is hosting an Agricultural Emergency Responder Grain Bin Rescue Program on Saturday, June 21, at the Union Township Complex at 1380 Beaver Run Road SE in Hebron, Ohio. A general public session will be 9 a.m. to noon and an EMT session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m.

The training program offers four hours of continuing education units for emergency responders through Central Ohio Technical College. Registration is required by June 16. Call the OSU Extension-Licking County Office at 740-670-5315. Lunch is provided at $10 per person payable the day of the program.

The program will focus on grain bin emergency rescue in an agricultural setting. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to demonstrate the rescue process for a person in a grain engulfment.

The program is a joint effort of The Ohio State University Extension-Licking County Office and Central Ohio Technical College. The program is made possible through financial support of the Licking County Agronomy Committee, Central Ohio Technical College, Licking County Farm Bureau and OSU Extension-Licking County. Rescue tubes are being provided by Coshocton Grain, Granville Milling, Mike Shipley and Shipley Farms.
