Hello all and thanks for reading. We have a lot of exciting things planned so please read below. Happy early Father’s Day! Dad would love bacon or steak and a delicious pie from Local Bounty. The perfect gift is farm fresh goodness!
Did you know?
Class Incentive
Thinking about signing up for one of our upcoming classes? Here’s a really good reason to sign up today: Every person who takes a class at LB between now and Sept. 6 will be entered to win two tickets to our Farm to Table Dinner (a $150 value).
Upcoming classes include: Cake Decorating (June 17 & 18), $40 with Katie Hultz, Juicing (June 28) with Cindy Kostecki ($10) and Kids Cooking Camp (July 28-Aug. 1), $30 per child. More information on all of these classes is available at Local Bounty.
Farm to Table Dinner
We hope you have marked your calendar for Saturday, Sept. 6 for our Farm to Table Dinner. This year’s feast – that celebrates the food, wine and culture – of our rural Appalachian community will be in the century old bank barn at Carson House Farm (home of Drs. Dave & Brenda Lozowski on SR 643 near Keene). Bob McKenna will create a gourmet dinner and Shawnee Springs wine will be served. Local entertainment will also be part of the evening. Contact Kristi Adelsberger (kristi.adelsberger@gmail.com or 623-8914) for more information. Pictures from last year’s dinner are on our facebook page.
Vendor Updates:
Flying Pig Farm
Sprouts are back! Great in so many recipes sprouts are nutritious and delicious. We’re thinking of expanding our offerings. Please leave a note with the cashier if you have a sprout seed suggestion. We also have mustard greens in the cooler. For a speedy supper try one of our rice or soup mixes. For a speedy breakfast purchase some granola or jam! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
Hillbippie
We will have more Pita bread today as well as Focaccia. Most of my breads only contain 4 ingredients; Flour, Water, Yeast and Salt. Deliciously simple! I will also be bringing in some yummy Richer Buttermilk Shortcake Friday, it is my favorite shortcake and so so good with fresh strawberries. Have a great weekend!
Keene Creek Farm
The wait is *almost* over. Next Thursday we should have plenty of your favorite pork products back in stock – including sausage and marinated loin chops. The bacon, Canadian bacon and hams (for the ham loaf) will take a 10 day nap in the smoker though and won’t be ready until the following week (fingers crossed). Aunt M’s Monster Mix got a packaging facelift and has an incentive attached to it now. Five of our family members are riding in Pelotonia this year (each pledged to ride 100 miles). This is a massive bike ride that raises money for cancer research. For each jar of Aunt M’s Monster Mix that sells, we will donate $2 to our family’s team. To learn more about Pelotonia and the cause visit http://pelotonia.org/. Many thanks for your support of all local food efforts.
Rolling Acres Nursery
We have restocked our selection of perennials, shrubs and trees at Local Bounty. There are a few Japanese maple trees available (different sizes). They are a beautiful addition to any landscape. We also have spirea, balloon flowers, and much more to pick from. This is our second year in the nursery business and we are located just off of SR 643 south of New Bedford.
Strawberry Hill Farm
Conditions continue to be great for growing salad greens. We’ll be bringing more to Local Bounty on Thursday afternoon, when Mary (and Ron, part of the time) will be working. We’re also bringing a few radishes and tender, sweet salad turnips—and possibly a few quarts of strawberries. Stop in and see us!
Windy Hill Farm
We will have fresh Rhubarb today and look for Rhubarb bread tomorrow.
Wiley’s Finest
If fish oil isn’t a part of your daily routine it very well should be. Health professionals across the nation are rallying behind fish oil and the benefits of the Omega 3 it offers. Our complete line of fish oil products (including a pre-natal and citrus liquid) are all available at Local Bounty.
