Hopewell Industries hosts annual Freedom Fest
Hopewell Industries hosted their annual Freedom Fest on Thursday, July 3 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a variety of fun and games for the community. Guest speaker at the event was Marci Straughter from Columbus who has just finished her second year of college and hopes to work with people with disabilities when she graduates. The event was filled with laughter, fellowship, and enjoying being together, with the occasional water balloon sailing through the air! Activities included a dank tank, friendly water balloon fights, a variety of games inside, a silent cake auction, and a pie-in-the-face stand where many people took advantage of hitting their friends with an aluminum pie pan filled with whipped cream. There was also a military truck for kids to climb in, an EMS vehicle, and a sheriff’s car for the kids to explore. Money from the cake auction went to the Firefighters Toy Drive. “We are just so fortunate for all of these donations,” said Mona Eick, Hopewell administrator. “I just hear so much positive coming from the people we’re serving every day. They are so happy.” For more photos of the Freedom Fest, see our website www.coshoctonbeacontoday.com.
