Coshocton City Schools announce school hotline services
COSHOCTON – Today, Coshocton City Schools announced that they are implementing a new safety service called School Hotline, which allows students, parents, staff, and community members to anonymously report potential threats of violence, bullying, gang activity, drug use, sexual harassment, or any other potential issue concerning students in the school district. The system is simple to use. To anonymously report a problem to administrators, anyone can dial the toll free number 866-484-4634 and leave a message. The caller I.D. is not captured on the call to protect the identity of the caller, who is not required to leave their name or any other information they do not wish to leave. The call is free to the caller and can be made from any phone at any time. Once the message is left, it is immediately transmitted to a list of school and/or community officials that is determined by the superintendent.
In making the announcement, Superintendent Hire said, “The purpose of the School Hotline service is to give students, parents, staff, and members of the community every opportunity to help stop problems before they happen or tell us about an on-going problem they are aware of without having to be identified or get involved with the situation. We will be publicizing the 866-484-4634 number and we ask everyone to write it down and keep it handy in case they see or hear something that we need to know about. We want people in the school and in the community to ‘err on the side of caution’ and call in even if they are not sure about what they saw or heard. All it takes is one call, one piece of information, to prevent a child from being hurt. We are excited about this new service for our district.”
