COSHOCTON – Looking for some fun things to do this fall? Here’s a list of local events planned to celebrate the fall and Halloween season.
Maple Hollow Farms Fall Festival: Now — Sunday, Oct. 26, Maple Hollow Farms, 56540 US Highway 36, West Lafayette. Maple Hollow Farms has new attractions for fall including a corn maze, hayrides and a petting zoo. The corn maze theme for this year is “on the road again” featuring a 1974 semi truck. Throughout the maze you will find fun and educational facts about America’s byways. Pick-your-own pumpkin available. Petting zoo, corn hole, corn box, and cow ropin are free. Hell’s Hollow Haunted Trail: 8 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18, Oct. 24-25, and Friday, Oct. 31, Plainfield, off of SR 93/SR 541 (follow the signs for parking). Expect the unexpected on this haunted trail. Cost is $10 per person – group rates available for 20 or more. Info: 740-545-6632 or find them on Facebook.
Spirit of Roscoe Tour: Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18, Historic Roscoe Village, 600 N. Whitewoman St. Tickets may be purchased at Roscoe Village Visitor Center or the Toll House (next to the Warehouse Steak n Stein). Learn about the “spirited” canal town through stories of long ago personalities, significant events and curiosities. Hear about Roscoe’s firebug, the tragedy at the hotel, the danger and humor of being a post boy, the atrocity of a bloody Bible and more. Hall of Horror: 7 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18 and 24-25 and Friday, Oct. 31, Coshocton County Fairgrounds in the Agriculture Hall. Admission is $6 and the event is hosted by RD Promotions. Proceeds this year will be split between the Agricultural Building at the fairgrounds and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Education of Yesterday 10th annual Farm Show: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, intersections of State Route 16 & 60 in Dresden, at Captain Bryant’s Grist Mill. (Located on the Country Crossroads Farm owned by the late Kenny Moore.) See the old farm machinery of the past working in the fields and displays. Admission is free. Parking donation requested. Village Halloween Party: Saturday, Oct. 25, Burt Park Area in West Lafayette. The event is sponsored by the West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and will feature costume contests, games and treats. All ages are welcome. Info: Christie Patterson at 740-545-9773.
