James G. ‘Jim’ Bryant
James G. “Jim” Bryant, 89, of Coshocton passed away at Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus on Friday November 7, 2014.
Jim was born in Adams Mills on October 18, 1925 to the late Robert F. and Nellie Elizabeth (Snack) Bryant.
He served in the United States Army during WWII having earned a Purple Heart. He had worked at Pope Gosser as a painter, was a machinist for Penn Michigan and retired after working ten years for the City of Coshocton in maintenance at the courthouse.
Jim was a member of the Dresden First Baptist Church, American Legion and loved playing his harmonica in his band “Singspration,” his group played every Friday night and some Sunday’s at local churches.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara J. (Thomson) Bryant who he married June 26, 1946; one daughter Brenda (Jim) Holdsworth of Coshocton; three grandchildren Lori (Larry) Monroy of Coshocton, Amy (Rich) Lawrence of Westerville and Valerie Holdsworth of Coshocton; ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his two brothers Ralph and Robert Bryant and a sister Freda Stevenson.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday November 10, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Funeral services for Jim will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joe Offenberger officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors.
