Mikesell001COSHOCTON- Wilma M. (Axline) Mikesell, 93, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014, at Grant Medical Trauma Center in Columbus, OH.  She resided at Windsorwood Place in Coshocton most of the past 6 years.

She was born in Coshocton County on April 18, 1921, to D. D. & Esther (Bell) Axline.  After she graduated from Perry-Pike High School in 1939, she married her husband of 55 years, L. Forrest Mikesell on January 1, 1941.  Forrest & both her parents preceded her in death.

Wilma is survived by her 3 sons:  Sharell L. (Peggy Kraft), Lynn D. (Carol), and Jerry F. (Jacky) Mikesell, 2 grandchildren:  Jason L. (Sherry) Mikesell, and Laura Mikesell (Duane) Miller.  2 Great-Grandchildren, Austin & Adam Miller, 2 step-Great-grandchildren, Tad, Jr. & Bethany Landis complete the family.  She is also survived by several nieces & nephews.

Before she was married, Wilma worked a short time as a secretary at Union School.  She was a devoted mother and wife, a committed Christian servant, a homemaker, and she counted her sons as her greatest accomplishments.  She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the Cooperdale Nazarene Church for many years and many children adopted her as their grandmother over the years,   (Laurel Raber Lauvray, Cheryl Schelski Smith, Betsy & Lauren LeBeau and the boys, Kristen Wood and their families, too!)  She loved them all!

She was a member of the Coshocton 1st Church of the Nazarene and loved to be there when her health permitted it.  She participated in the Prime Timers Group, and loved to sing!  She appreciated the services that are provided at Windsorwood Place on Sunday afternoons, particularly when Pastor Richard King was speaking, and when the Mathias children sang.

She has had several surgeries over the last 18 years and God saw that she was ready & He called her home, where there is no more pain & no more suffering.

The family would like to thank the staff at Windsorwood Place, Coshocton County Memorial ER Staff, Grant Medical Center Trauma Unit team, the doctors, nurses, and all those who helped make the final hours easier.  Also, a “special thank-you” goes to Mary Roller, her best friend & next-door neighbor for the last several years for all her help during that time.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastors Steve Ward and Dave Boots officiating.  Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery at Warsaw.  Visitation is Sunday, Dec. 14th from 2-5 p.m., and until service time on Monday.  www.fischerfuneralhome.com
