Lifesaving heart and vascular screenings such as stroke/carotidartery. Health booths and classes on such topics as DermaScan, nutritional and fitness counseling, car and booster seat checks, home safety products, and fun kid’s activities.

This exhibit features artwork by elementary school students in Coshocton County. This museum is Accredited by the American Association of Museums and is also home to the famous Newark Holy Stones.

Annually, local bakers and professional pastry chefs create fine chocolate desserts for the Pomerene Center’s chocolate fundraising event. Annually our guests are treated to an abundance of choice from tables of cakes and tortes, cheesecakes and pies, and candies and other sweet treats. Musical entertainment and art exhibit included.

Join us for a romantic evening at the historic Lake Park Dance Pavilion, a beautifully restored 1930s big band dance hall. Music will be provided by the Lake Park Big Band. Dance to the sounds of Sammy Kaye, Glenn Miller and others from that era. Tickets will go on sale in January. Contact the Park District office at 622-7528 for more information. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Parks organization.

Wednesday, March 4 thru Thursday, March 5, 2015: The 113th Tiverton Institute

The morning starts each day with coffee and donuts at 10 a.m. The programs begin at 10:30 a.m. with covered dish meals at noon. These meals are popular as everyone brings delicious food to share. The afternoon sessions begin at 1 p.m. The evening programs are at 7 p.m. There is a baking contest Wednesday morning for adults and children. There is also judging for woodcraft items. The Tiverton Grange has a Soup Supper on Thursday from 4 – 6 p.m. The Institute is supported by donations as we Pass the Hat. The day speakers cover a variety of topics such as history, information, entertainment, travel and more. Wednesday evening’s program is for the children. Thursday evening is music and fun.
The original purpose of a Community Institute was to trade new ideas for farming and homemaking. The Extension Service agents shared information. Now, speakers share history, local and state legislation, and other information. The Tiverton Institute is one of the last of its kind in the state.
