Superload stops outside of Nellie
NELLIE – The first of three superloads left a Mount Vernon manufacturing facility Jan. 14, but experienced just one of several delays in its travels on U.S. 36 by Nellie the afternoon of Jan. 15. The Siemens Power Generation Package is 330 feet long; 14 feet 4 inches tall; 20 feet 4 inches wide; and has a gross weight of 489,000 pounds. Its destination is Bellaire Harbor in Belmont County and then an oil field off the coast of Congo. The Siemens Power Generation Package will travel on U.S. 36, to Interstate 77 South, to Interstate 70 East, to Interstate 470 East, to Ohio 7 South, to Bellaire. ODOT and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are escorting the convoy from Mount Vernon to Bellaire. The second and third units are scheduled to move in February.
