Virgil Shryock, 92, of West Lafayette passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Lafayette Pointe Nursing Home in West Lafayette.

He was born in Birds Run on April 10, 1922 to the late Harry V. and Margaret “Maggie” (Moore) Shryock.

Virgil worked at Jones Metal for 43 years before retiring. He was a member of the West Lafayette First Baptist Church.

Virgil is survived by his four children, Gary (Patricia) Shryock of Coshocton, Connie (Chuck) Lahna of West Lafayette, Richard (Nancy) Shryock of West Lafayette, and Beverly (Arthur) Gross of West Lafayette; sister Evelyn Neff of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Gary and Michael Shryock, Michelle (Chris) Crown, Amy (Kirby) Hasseman, Christopher ( Meredith) Lahna, Todd Lahna, Scott (Jamie) Shryock, Jennifer (Tony) Warden and Daniel (Christine) Gross; nine great-grandchildren, Abby and Ally Crown, Skylar and Jade Hasseman, Emerson Lahna, Austin and Trent Warden, and Colin and Connor Gross; daughter-in-law Sharon Shryock; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Harriet M. (Darr) Shryock; son Gail Shryock; sister Edna Zeiner; brothers, Lewis, Fletcher, and Murl Shryock; sister-in-law Mavis Shryock; and granddaughter Rebecca Gross.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday February 20, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM with Charles Michaels officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed towards The West Lafayette First Baptist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
