Redskins and RV swimmers ready for district
COSHOCTON – Swimmers for the Coshocton Redskins and the River View Black Bears are preparing for their opportunity to advance to the state level at the district swim meet in Athens this Friday. There is no regional event for swimming.
For the Black Bears, Lydia Els is the lone female swimmer for an individual event and will be swimming in the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle. For the male swimmers, Brendan Dickson will be competing in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Dalton Hammond in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and Nate Cooper will be competing in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
The girls relay team for River View of Shawna Shroyer, Lydia Els, Samantha Douglass and Jessie Gibson will be swimming in the 200 freestyle relay while the foursome of Lydia Els, K.J. Smailes, Shawna Shroyer and Samantha Douglass will be swimming in the 200 medley relay. Madison Woolard, KJ Smailes, Fawn Denbow and Kenzie Hudson will be competing in the 400 freestyle relay.
On the boys side, Nate Cooper, Brendan Dickson, Dalton Hammond and Andy Smith will be swimming in the 200 medley relay, Brendan Dickson, Andy Smith, Nate Cooper and Dalton Hammond in the 200 freestyle relay and Caleb Fischer, Josh Bigrigg, Bryar Cox and Jonathon Helmick in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Redskins are sending several swimmers to the district event in individual and boys and girls relay team events.
Georgia Brown will be competing in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, Emily Casey in the 200 IM, Brian Rogers in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Bryce Philabaum in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Cody McVay in the 200 IM and 100 fly, Patrick Brouse in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and Talon Babcock in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.
Redskin lady swimmers competing the in the relay events will be: Suzi Simpson, Georgia Brown, Emily Casey, Jacqueline Roman, Cassidy Cantrell, Amia Woods and Jenny Simpson. For the boys it will be: Brian Rogers, Bryce Philabaum, Cody McVay, Patrick Brouse, Talon Babcock, Seth Casey and Gage Bosson. Swimmers were not yet assigned to relay teams as of this date.
