Local Bounty Update

| March 19, 2015

Good Morning,

Well we have awaited the arrival of Spring for some time, it is finally here!  We have a lot of new updates below and can’t wait to share our bounty with you. Come see us today and tomorrow 10-6, Sat. 9-1.

Vendor Updates:

Flying Pig Farm
Hello Spring! This past week we’ve been enjoying cookouts, yard work and being in the greenhouse. We’re busy planting our heirloom vegetable seeds so that we can bring you non-GMO produce this summer! Our Cinnamon Raisin Bread seems to be gaining in popularity so I baked 6 loaves this week. Get yours while they last! We also have Garlic Herb Croutons again and baked a requested batch of Roasted Pumpkin Bread. Our Gluten-free Bread and Buns are in the cooler along with some samples. If there is a baked good you would like to pre-order please write a note on the pad hanging in our booth. I can bake anything you request using our non-GMO flours!

Hillbippie

Focaccia (FO-CA-SHA) is a bread that is loved worldwide, “This flat bread topped with olive oil, spices and other products is an early prototype of modern pizza. The basic recipe is thought by some to have originated with the Ancient Greeks. Focaccia, known and loved in Italy and abroad, is yeasted flat bread which belongs essentially to the northern shores of the Mediterranean and has its origin in classical antiquity.”  Every time you bite into a slice of Focaccia it is like you are breaking bread with those of the past!  Come get some today.  Also in stock my two new teas, Spring Tonic and Mellow Morning.  I will have these available in tea bags tomorrow, thanks again!

Humble Bee Bakery

Greetings friends! It’s been chocolate, chocolate, and MORE

chocolate at the hive this week. I’m sharing my loco love of cocoa with my cupcake offerings. Perfect for treating yourself or for sharing!

Buckeye Cupcakes~Peanut butter cake with a chocolate american buttercream swirl. It wouldn’t be complete without the buckeye candy on top.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Cupcakes~Vanilla cake with crushed chocolate pretzels nestled inside. Topped with vanilla buttercream and a whole chocolate covered pretzel. Salty & Sweet!  Cinnamon Swirl Bread is back on the shelves this week and I’ve added an extra batch!  Don’t forget the samples are available all month long!

Keene Creek Farm

This week we made up more Aunt M’s Monster Mix with Dark Chocolate M&Ms for Easter. Yum! We also made  more of our Rustic Herb Pizza Dough mixes. Each bag makes up into two large pizzas. You can use both for one meal or make one up and place the other dough in the freezer or refrigerator to use another time. Our Texas Longhorn beef was a huge seller last weekend. Wowza. Please remember, once it’s gone it’s gone…at least until we can find more land to purchase/lease. Pork is in great supply right now. Loads of brats, patties, chops, bacon (including Canadian) and more. We are so happy to have built up the variety of cuts that we now offer. Thanks for  helping us grow our farm business.

Mullet Apiaries

The warm weather of this past weekend enabled us to check our hives. We have about a 20% loss this year, but are relieved that it wasn’t worse, considering the extreme cold we experienced. In fact, some of the hives had extra honey left that we were able to take off and extract. That means we will have honey supplies to get us through until this year’s gathering. Believe it or not, the maples are blooming in our woods so there is pollen available for the girls on those warm days that they are out. Oh, and Dick received his first sting of the season (won’t be his last)!  Try some of our honey in a nice cup of Hillbippie’s Spring Tonic tea for a nice lift in your day!

Pink Elephant Coffee Roasters

We have a new offering for you! It’s a smooth coffee with hints of lemon and chocolate from the Mandheling region of SUMATRA. We are in love with this coffee and hope you will be too. We’ve also gotten in a fresh batch of Tanzania Peaberry for you to enjoy alongside our Colombia Noble and Fair Trade Organic Mexican Decaf. And snag a bag of that Costa Rica La Trinidad soon, it’s on its way out!  Look for the Sumatra on the shelves soon!

Windy Hill Farm

Thanks to the help of my daughter (because I have a bum leg this week), fresh Rhubarb-Pecan bread and Chocolate-Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites are on the shelves this morning. Share a treat with a co-worker…just because.
