Annin raises funds for Autism
COSHOCTON – Annin employees got to blow off a little steam Friday afternoon April 10 and it was all for a good cause.
April is Autism Awareness Month and to help raise money for it Annin employees were given the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to put a whipped cream pie in the face of supervisors.
“This is our busy season,” said Bobbi Parks, who works in the company’s human resources department. “They’ve been putting in a lot of long nine hour days and working Saturdays. We thought this (the fundraiser) would help boost morale and the supervisors and managers were all ok with it.”
Parks, however, seemed to get the worst end of the fundraiser. Her hair was pretty much covered in whipped cream by the time the pies were all gone and she had to clean her safety glasses several times.
“It’s all in fun,” Parks said.
Last year the company raised $5,000 for autism. A portion of the money was donated to the Autism Foundation and the rest was divided between five area schools, which used the money to purchase items to help their autistic students.
“Our people here are very giving,” Parks said.
