Central Ohio Technical College commencement set
COSHOCTON – Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) will celebrate its 46th commencement ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 8. There are 253 eligible graduates in 21 associate degree and 1 certificate programs.
COTC President Bonnie L. Coe, Ph.D., will preside over the ceremony. Gordon Yance and Jennifer Odenweller will provide the keynote address. Yance, now retired, served as the president of First-Knox National Bank in Mount Vernon. Odenweller, his daughter, is the executive director of the United Way of Knox County. Also speaking is John Hinderer, chairman of the COTC board of trustees.
Commencement will be held in the gymnasium in Adena Hall on COTC’s Newark campus, 1179 University Drive, Newark.
Spring semester graduates represent 17 Ohio counties, varying in age from 17-62. The inaugural graduating class of the Knox County Initiative will be recognized. Eight students from Mount Vernon and Centerburg high schools will receive their Associate of Science degree prior to receiving their high school diploma later this summer. As a group, they have been awarded over $350,000 in scholarships. One is entering the United States Navy at an advanced rank; the others are attending a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree, all entering as juniors.
