Coshocton is Blooming in need of volunteers
COSHOCTON – It’s that time of year when everything is greening up.
Coshocton is Blooming members are working at adding color to the downtown area of Coshocton. The hanging baskets are planted and growing. Some baskets will feature the bright green of the Sweet Potato Vines and an ornamental grass. Other baskets will showcase the CIB theme colors with shades of purple petunias. We need volunteers to help with the planters. On Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers can meet up with Tim France to help with replacing soil and preparing the planters for new plants. Meet France on the west side of the court house if you would like to assist him. By the end of May, GrapeXpectations should be visible throughout the city and along our side streets.
In conjunction with Arbor Day, an Ash Tree was planted at Coshocton Elementary School. Eventually the tree will provide shade for students when they meet outside.
New for this summer is the Community Pride Recognition of individuals and business, aka Door Hanger project. This program recognizes efforts made for lawn care, floral display, cleanliness, and improvements around private and public spaces. Police and postal workers will be making nominations which will be passed on to city hall. Then, council members from the various wards will notify home owners and businesses with a door hanger. Those receiving the door hangers will be invited to a council meeting where they will be recognized. You can also nominate an individual or business; just pick up a form at the post office or sheriff’s office, fill it out and return the form to the post office, sheriff’s office, or city hall. Forms can also be downloaded from CIB’s Facebook page.
