COSHOCTON – A reception honoring past, present and future nurses was held May 5, at Coshocton Hospital. “We like to get together one time a year to celebrate and show respect to all nurses,” said Tammy Dovenbarger, who is a surgical nurse. The party was organized by the Coshocton Registered Nurses Association, which Dovenbarger is treasurer of. Other officers are Jackie Mason, union president and Susan Fitch, secretary. “We enjoy getting together to discuss memories and how nursing has changed,” Dovenbarger said. Nurses in attendance were from surgery, oncology, the fourth floor, ER, ICU, outpatient services and there also were former OB nurses. “I enjoy nursing because I can help with patient care, support the community and show the community that I care,” Dovenbarger said. I started my journalism career in 2002 with a daily newspaper chain. After various stops with them, I am happy to be back home! I graduated from Coshocton High School in 1998 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2002 from Walsh University. I also earned several awards while working for daily papers, including being honored by Coshocton County’s veterans for the stories I wrote about them. I am honored and ready to once again shine a positive light on Coshocton County. I also am the proud mother of a little girl named Sophia!
