Our Town Stories to discuss Picnics—Family, Church and Community
COSHOCTON – Summer time is the time to be outdoors, whether it’s gardening, swimming or eating. The topic of June’s Our Town Stories gathering is Picnics—Family, Church and Community. What do you remember about those picnics when you were a kid? Swimming at the lake? Eating watermelon? Competing in three-legged races? And was there ever a church picnic that didn’t serve ice cream in little cups pulled from a nest of dry ice? Join other experienced picnic goers at noon on June 11 at the museum. Maybe you’d like to bring along that ol’ picnic basket, now only full of memories.
JHM’s Our Town Stories gathering occurs monthly on the second Thursday of the month at noon. The conversation animates “the old days” as we conjure up memories, share personal stories, and recall Coshocton County as it once was. All are welcome to participate, whether you grew up in Coshocton or not. The atmosphere is casual and the discussion is always informative, fun and surprising. Admission for the program is free, and beverages and cookies will be provided. Bring your lunch and we’ll call it an indoors picnic.
July’s topic is “Movie Theatres.” For more information, contact the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum at 740-622-8710 or jhmuseum@jhmuseum.org. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located at 300 N. Whitewoman Street, Coshocton. The museum is open to the public daily, noon to 5 p.m.
