Indian Mud Run plans well underway
COSHOCTON – Runners from across the eastern United States will converge on Saturday, June 27 at Lake Park in Coshocton for the annual Indian Mud Run from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Known by past participants as one of the greatest mud runs in the state, the Indian Mud Run offers a 3.5 mile course in the beautiful setting of Lake Park with multiple obstacles where runners challenge their physical and mental strength.
“This course is naturally beautiful,” said Kirby Hasseman. “A lot of races create race courses, but we already have a course in existence and it’s beautiful.”
The event will feature a similar course to years past with the ever-popular water slide, giant cargo net, monkey bars over the canal, and others.
“The registration is going well, but we would love to see an influx of people register during the last three weeks leading up to the race,” said Hasseman.
Runners can register online at www.indianmudrun.com. Cost is $65 for pre-registration and $70 the day of the race. Each runner will receive a t-shirt with the top finishers of last year’s race listed on the back, a drawstring bag, and a medal.
If you’re not a runner but would still like to participate, volunteers are needed the day of the race to help fill out race packets, parking, and with other activities during the day. Click on the “Get Involved” tab on the website mentioned above to register to volunteer.
“Volunteers are always needed,” said Hasseman. “If you want to volunteer, we will find a place to put you.”
Food vendors are also encouraged to check out the “Get Involved” tab and register. Cost is $50 to rent a space for the event, and it’s a great way to get your name out to approximately 700 people from all over the state and country.
Local businesses are also encouraged to sponsor an obstacle for $250. A sign featuring your business’ name will be placed beside the obstacle you wish to sponsor. Wiley’s Finest Wild Alaskan Fish Oil is the major sponsor of this event.
One new event this year will be a pre-registration party the night before at The Warehouse Steak n’ Stein in Roscoe Village from 6 – 8 p.m.
“It’s an opportunity for us all to get together and have a drink and something to eat the night before the event,” said Hasseman. “We want to encourage people to come and enjoy the community.”
A special rate will be available at Coshocton Village Inn and Suites and camping will be available at Lake Park for out-of-town guests.
After the race, refreshments, water, and beer will be available to runners. Runners can also have fun bouncing their friends in the lake on the blob pillow and running in the Zorb balls. A kid’s course for those 14 years and older will be offered for $10. Registration is not needed, but a parent’s signature is required.
“We are working hard to make every single racer have a great experience,” said Hasseman. “We want everyone to feel like they’re getting special treatment.”
